Foam Solutions LLC Approved for VCEDA Seed Capital Grant

BIG STONE GAP, VA – MARCH 26, 2025 — Improving energy efficiency is one of the goals of Foam Solutions LLC, a spray foam insulation and coatings company which offers not only spray foam insulation, but also concrete leveling and more. Owned by Class A contractor, Amy Hubbard, the new Big Stone Gap, VA, business offers its services throughout the Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee areas.

Foam Solutions LLC is a recent recipient of a $10,000 Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority (VCEDA) Seed Capital Matching Grant. Seed capital grants are funded from regional funds received by VCEDA which are paid by the natural gas industry.

“Foam Solutions LLC caters to a niche market valuing sustainable building practices,” said Jonathan Belcher, VCEDA executive director/general counsel.  “The business projects eight full-time employees within five years.”

Hubbard noted Foam Solutions focuses on the application of spray foam insulation for both residential and commercial uses, making spaces more energy efficient. Concrete leveling and work on roofs on older flat roof buildings for structure, sound and energy are additional services offered.

Hubbard noted the company offers high quality workmanship and strict compliance which in turn ensure durable solutions for sidewalks, roofs and more, ultimately enhancing property value and sustainability.

“The construction and renovation sectors face significant challenges in achieving energy efficiency and preserving historic buildings,” Hubbard said. “Many existing insulation and leveling solutions fall short in performance and sustainability. Foam Solutions addresses this gap by providing high-quality spray foam insulation, coatings and concrete leveling services, ensuring compliance and enhancing energy efficiency while respecting the integrity of historic structures.”

Hubbard noted the VCEDA grant is being used to buy fresh cool air suits for employees to wear while applying foam solutions.

“We are very appreciative of the grant,” Hubbard said. “We are using it to create better working conditions for our employees through the purchase of the cooling suits.”

Hubbard worked with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Mountain Empire Community College (MECC) in developing her application to VCEDA and received a letter of support from the Wise County Industrial Development Authority.

“Mountain Empire Community College’s Small Business Development Center enjoyed supporting Foam Solutions in preparing their grant application and launching a business that fills a critical need in our region,” said Becki O’Quinn-Purdie, MECC SBDC executive director. “By offering home and business improvement services focused on energy efficiency, Foam Solutions is bringing innovative solutions that have not been available locally. We look forward to seeing their positive impact on both our community and our economy.”

Wise County Industrial Development Authority Executive Director Brian Falin noted the Wise County IDA was proud to offer its support to Foam Solutions, LLC’s application for a VCEDA Seed Capital Matching Grant.

“As redevelopment of historical structures continues to be an important part of preserving our unique downtown areas, the services offered by Foam Solutions will be a major benefit to our region,”  Falin said. “It was evident by the application materials that the commitment and investment made by the owner proved just how needed these services are in our communities. The IDA looks forward to seeing Foam Solutions be a part of many exciting projects throughout SWVA.”
