Price Land Solutions Approved for VCEDA Seed Capital Grant

WISE, VA – FEBRUARY 2, 2026 – A variety of services from stump removal, brush cutting and septic installation to mowing, debris removal and grading and excavation are offered in the region by Price Land Solutions in Wise County, VA, but owner Robert Price offers an expanded service giving potential customers the opportunity to see what their proposed finished project will look like in advance. Price uses AI (artificial intelligence) to show prospective customers before and after picture comparisons of the work they are considering and also utilizes AI to develop accurate cost estimates of the work to be done.

CP Stump Solutions, LLC, DBA Price Land Solutions is a recent recipient of a $10,000 Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority (VCEDA) Seed Capital Matching Grant. Seed capital grants are funded from regional funds received by VCEDA which are paid by the natural gas industry.

“Price Land Solutions offers a rather unique service in the region due in part to the use of AI in his work,” said Jonathan Belcher, VCEDA executive director/general counsel. “The new business projects one full-time and four part-time employees within five years.”

“The use of AI has really helped me to streamline my quote process,” Price said. “When I have a stump grinding job, for instance, I can use ChatGPT to tell it the kind of wood, the measurements, the land grade and the equipment I propose to use and it will tell me the size of the shavings, help to determine the amount of time to grind the wood, the mess it will create and the time needed for clean-up. The more information I give it, the more it helps me to be accurate in the quote process.”

Additionally, he has used it to track equipment maintenance and for suggestions on the best equipment to use for a particular job.

Through the process, he determined one improvement would be in getting a dedicated stump grinder. He looked into it and in January, purchased one.

“It’s kind of like having your own engineer on a project,” he said.

Price recently added septic installation to his service line. He is licensed to provide those services in Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

“This year has been a year of purchasing a lot of new equipment,” Price said. “This business is equipment intensive and the equipment is expensive.”

Price said he is using the VCEDA seed capital grant toward the purchase of some of that equipment as well as for marketing expenses including the development of his new website, flyers, yard signs and door hangers.

“The grant has really helped,” Price said.

Price worked with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Mountain Empire Community College (MECC) in developing his application to VCEDA and received a letter of support from the Wise County Industrial Development Authority (IDA).

“One of the best parts was working with the Small Business Development Center and Becki,” Price said of MECC SBDC Director Becki O’Quinn-Purdie. “She was a wealth of information.”

“The MECC Small Business Development Center was proud to guide Price Land Solutions, LLC through the VCEDA Seed Capital process,” said O’Quinn-Purdie. “As a Southwest Virginia family business, Price Land Solutions provides high-demand land management and site preparation services. Their commitment to expanding their knowledge, growing their offerings and serving both large and small accounts reflects exactly the kind of hardworking, community-rooted business that strengthens our region. The SBDC enjoys helping businesses start and grow in local communities, building local economies one business at a time.”

“The services offered by Mr. Price and Price Land Solutions are extremely valuable to the community and will provide significant benefits to general property maintenance as well as residential housing and commercial property development in the region,” said Wise County IDA Executive Director Brian Falin. “The company has tremendous growth potential and the Wise County IDA was proud to support Mr. Price’s application for the VCEDA seed capital grant program.”
