WISE, VA — June 13, 2025 — An up to $50,000 grant from the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority (VCEDA) to the Wise County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) will be used to finance the purchase and installation of a new sign for the Lonesome Pine Regional Business and Technology Park in Wise County, VA.
“Good signage is one of the fundamental principles of effective real estate marketing,” said VCEDA Executive Director/General Counsel Jonathan Belcher.” Nearly 200 acres in the business and technology park remain available, but there never has been a formal sign. This project will change that and we commend the Wise County IDA for making this change.”
The Lonesome Pine Regional Business and Technology Park in Wise, first established in the 1990s, is one of the premiere economic development locations in the region and is home to several businesses and hundreds of workers.
The Wise County IDA, in partnership with the Wise County Office of Economic & Industrial Development, has undertaken a branding and marketing plan that will not only include a new branding logo, new marketing materials and a new dedicated economic development website for the county, but also the addition of signage at the technology park.
Some minor site preparation will need to be performed before the sign can be installed.
“As part of a comprehensive rebranding and marketing campaign, the need to better promote the primary economic development asset of the county, the Lonesome Pine Regional Business & Technology Park, quickly became a priority,” said Wise County IDA Executive Director Brian Falin. “In addition to new marketing materials and a new economic development website, the gateway signage project will improve the marketability of the Tech Park and will provide a welcoming entryway to existing industry and potential new tenants. The new signs will be a complementary design to the existing atmosphere and are expected to be installed by Fall 2025. VCEDA has been an integral part of the development of the Tech Park and the IDA greatly appreciates the continued support of our economic development efforts.”
